The new version of Facebook Messenger now includes a Uber button, so that users can request a ride and track their driver's progress while simultaneously chatting with their friends. Also, users can interact with the driver and pay for the ride, within the application. The credit goes to the Uber's API, which company making accessible to application developers as part of their Strategic Partnership Initiative.
"I'm also thrilled to launch this new experience with Uber. And to celebrate this moment together, you will get a free ride (up to $20 value) for a limited time. All you have to do is link your existing Uber account or setup a new one with Messenger and request a ride", says David Marcus, head of Facebook messaging.
It's interesting to watch the developments of both growing companies. While earlier this month, Uber simplified it's API for developers, within same month Facebook taking the full advantage of it.
