March 20, 2016: As per bloomberg reports, Facebook Engineer David Recordon agreed to fill in the position as White House Information technology director.
He met US President Obama last year when he was the part of administration creation of the U.S digital service, a service started to recruit technology enthusiasts to improve federal government websites. The annoucement of appointment was made on Thursday in a web post by Anita Decker, a deputy White House chief of the staff.
Obama in his post said, "In our continued efforts to serve our citizen better, we're bringing in top tech leaders to support our teams across the federal government. His considerable private sector experience and ability to deploy the latest collabrative and communication technologies will be a great asset to our work on behalf of the American people."
The 28 year old Recordon will be responsible for handling the information resources provided to president and vice-president.
