April 19, 2015: While we're wondering how government websites across the globe gets targeted despite high security firewalls, to list one of the many reason, FireEye, a renowned US firm published a report which says a group of hackers from Russia exploiting the flaws in two popular softwares Adobe Flash and Microsoft Windows operating system to target and steal confidential information of other governments.
The group called APT28, which is also be allegedly linked with Russian government, is after information about governments, militaries and security organisations including US and other diplomatic targes -- that would "likely tobenefit the Russian government."
Whether the recent security breach in White House linked to this groups or not is not confirmed by report, as FireEye refused to comment on the connection citing is as classified information.
Adobe has already created a fix for the vulnerability while Microsoft is working on a patch, says FireEye. This flaw doesn't apply to Microsoft 8 or later versions.
