German Automakers eager to acquire Nokia HERE Maps

May 8, 2015: Nokia in a bid to strengthen it's navigation software market presence has last month released an app on iOS and Android platform. This moves seems to be noted carefully by German automakers. 
According to undisclosed sources and report from The Wall Street Journal, the BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz are eager to acquire Nokia's HERE maps service. The intrested firms has said to form a consortium which also include China's top search engine company Baidu and they are warming up together to bid more than €2 million for the Finland based company's mapping service.

This move by automakers believed to be to tone down the growing threat due to Google's growing presence in automobile market with their famous self driving car.
