There is an option for iPhone users to use inbuilt 'Find My iPhone' feature to track their devices. For Android users, it's not that straightforward, but this simple guide could easily let you find your phone or tablet without having to install a tracking app.
And the trick is, Google. You kidding? No, Google search can do more than just answer your questions. Here's how to set it up:
A Step by Step Guide:
- 1. Turn On the Location Services on your Android device. You can do so by going to Settings > Location, and make sure to switch it on.
- 2. Logged in to your Google Account, if you're a frequent user of Google apps such as Gmail, Google+ and Google Chrome, then most probably you're already logged in. If not, head over to Settings > Accounts and signed it from there.
- 3. Next, your phone has to be linked to the Google Account in order for this trick to work. Follow the simple steps from here, if you're not already linked. This allows you to send information from computer to your Android phone like sending locations to your phone from PC.
- 4. If you're done with above three steps, try typing the "Find my phone" in Google search. The top result shows the phone finder tool "Google Device Manager"
- 5. Click that option, and for security purpose, you need to logged in again into your Google Account. Now, you can see the phone location on a map. Once your found, the tool allows you to make the ringer on full volume, and make the ringer play so it can be located more easily.
