April 20, 2015: An India based e-drugstore HealthKartPlus(now renamed to 1mg) has raised a $6 million in fresh round of funding. The investors include Intel Capital, MakeMyTrip, Omdiyar Network, Sequoia Capital, and Kae Capital.
Getting a affordable medicines is a huge challenge for underprivileged in developing countries, to solve this problem, the startup has came up with an idea and they name it as HealthKartPlus. Founded in 2011, the company offers a search engine app which give an alternative equivalent for commonly prescribed brand-name drugs and compares the costs of each. It will show the information about dosage, common uses, necessary precautions and warnings. And it also shows the availability and nearby pharmacy based on your location.
The startup currently stores database of over 100,000 medicines. The company currently operates in Gurgaon, Banglore, and Bhubaneshwar. Their app is available on iOS, Android and Windows platform.
