Domino's unveil world's first autonomous pizza delivery robot

Some competition here for Pizza delivery drivers, the Pizza company Domino's Australia unveiled an autonomous military type droid for pizza delivery and named it as DRU (Domino's Robotic Unit).

Launched on Thursday Night, the bot had already carried successfully it's first pizza delivery. "DRU is an autonomous delivery vehicle and is set to take the world by storm," the company wrote in a press note on their website.

The DRU was in process of development from 2015 in collaboration with Australian startup Marathon Robotics, which was sourcing it's robot from military and its own obstacle avoidance technology, and Domino's DLab providing it's GPS tracking data to streamline delivery addresses seamlessly.

The fast food retailer's DRU has a sensory system that uses lasers to move around obstacles in its path to travel to customer's address without any assistance.

The unit is about one meter tall, it's capable of carrying 20 delivery within 20 kilometers from store before needing a battery charge, and it's designed to move on trails, footpaths and bike paths.
