New Ikea Furniture offers wireless charging to your Gadgets

April 21, 2015: Imagine you're sitting on your couch and your phone runs out of battery and you don't need to run for a charging outlet because charging pads on your furniture charges your phone wirelessly. Sounds distant possibility? Well it will be a reality soon, IKEA confirms that they're rolling out furniture that could offer this feature with Qi Wireless charging technology.
                       
The furniture giant offer built in facility of wireless charging in nighstands, table lamps, desk lamps and other furnitures. Prices range from $60 to $120 for a floor lamp. 
                       
All major smartphones like Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Nexus are coming with wireless technology, such devices can avail the wireless charging facility of the furniture while other smartphones can plug their cable in built-in USB outlets in the furniture for charging. Alternatively, smartphones without built-in wireless charging technology can have replacement back covers that add Qi wireless charging support to their device.
                          
The "+" sign on the furniture indicates the place where Qi coils are located and placing your device on that charges your phone.
                         
The furniture will be launched in Europe and North America first, followed by global release by end of this year. There's no official date of launch from the company yet. We'll update you as it comes.
