On eve of the initiative, Google India partnered with Indian Government and shortlisted five innovative startups that will pitch at the campaign and vow to giveaway $100,000 Google Cloud Credits to top three winning startups. The winner will be selected by esteemed panel of judges.
With the Startup India Stand up India event, the Government of India has shown great foresight in providing a platform to the start-ups in the country. And we're delighted to carry forward the vision and align with 'Start-up India Stand Up India' efforts, with a special session focussing on early stage startups by providing them a platform to present their ideas to the world under our Launchpad Program," says Rajan Anandan, VP & MD, Google South East Asia & India.Here are short descriptions of five shortlisted startups:
Guru-G
Guru-G is a education based startup that aims to convert existing content into adaptive teaching packs. Founded in 2013 and having registered over 400+ government and private schools by now, the innovative teaching packs provides in-class guidance to teachers in different ways in which they can teach a topic. The guidance adapts to teacher's past behavior, student moods and the practices that have resulted in best learning outcomes for their students.
Cardiac Design Lab
This health industry based startup provides MIRCaM solutions to cardiac patients. MIRCaM stands for Mobile Intelligent Cardiac Monitor, it comprised of a Bodywork unit, Patient's Bedside Unit, MIRCaM Doctor's Terminal and MIRCaM Doctor's Mobile App. It provides real time analysis and generate instant alarms on episode detection, thus enhancing patient care and safety. It gives new possibilities for monitoring of vital parameters with wearable biomedical sensors, and will the patient the freedom to the mobile and still be under continuous monitoring and thereby offer better quality of patient care.
Reap Benefit
The social enterprise based startup Reap Benefit aims to solve local environment and civic problems like sanitation, waste, air quality and energy by engaging the youth. Founded in 2013, they aims to engage the youth, through community collaboration and technology, by crowd sourcing data of local issues and through existing do it yourself solutions.
They've worked with more than 15,000 students on the ground for the last 3 years, saved more than 200 tonnes of waste, 2 million litres of water, 100,000 units of power.
SlamdunQ is a wearable technology based startup that unleash sporting potential by developing apps for the Smartwatches and SmartBands available in the market. Founded in 2014, they are passionate about sports and endeavor to make applications that help budding sports players improve their game through carefully designed matrices and parameters. Their team delves deep into each sport, spending time understanding and decoding it to devise solutions that effectively better their game.
Sbalabs Pvt. Ltd. - Jackboy Sense & Kalink
Sbalabs aims to repurpose pollution's captured carbon to industrial grade raw material, which can be used for printing industry for inks, pigments, paints, etc. Soot (Black Carbon) is a mass of impure carbon particles resulting the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbon i.e air pollution. It is produced by vehicles and industries alike. Breaking in soot is linked to a wide range of serious health effects, including premature deaths, heart attacks, and strokes, bronchitis and aggravated asthma among children.
It's encouraging to see the startup culture taking off in India, and only time will tell if the initiative by Government of India is boon or bane.
