This app turns your old smartphone into home security system

We all have that one unused drawer where our old smartphones (read Nokia) resting in peace, so why not re-use it for something worth? Meet Olmose, a kickstarter project which aims to repurpose your old device to provide video-surveillance security system, that keeps a close eye on the stuffs that matters the most to you.

How it works?

Basically, the idea is to combine old devices with a technology that enables you to record, monitor and notify if necessary at way lower cost than traditional security system. It works by using camera of old device and connecting directly to your current smartphone. The whole setup consist of two apps namely:-

  • The Olmose Guardian: It's an app that you install onto an unused smartphone, which will turn that device into an authentic security Guardian.
  • The Osmose Remote app: It's an app that gets install onto your current smartphone, thus allowing you to turn into a remote control for your Guardian.
