4 Startups in China that caught our Eye

The tech startups in Silicon Valley and the rest of the developed world continue to hack the limelight with their innovative ideas, while startups in Asia are now tackling problems that appeals to the their local population. Here we focus on some of the 4 Startups in China that caught our eye.

1. DJI

Recent Funding: $105 million from Accel Partners

Beijing based startup DJI is known for its high-end consumer drones. It manufactures commercial and recreational unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for aerial photography and videography.

The company is way ahead of its predecessors in drone industry and recently in the CES 2016 show, they won many accolades for their innovative drones. DJI is building a software developer ecosystem so its drones can be used by enterprise customers in industries ranging from logistics and mining to agriculture. Their most high profile client in US is Walmart, which is experimenting delivery package system through DJI drones.

Recent Funding: $3.3 billion from Tencent and Alibaba

Founded in 2010 and with the recent merger of group buying site Meituan.com with Dianping.com, Meituan Dianping is now one of the largest group buying and food-delivery company in China.

The startup recently raised a record $3.3 billion at $18 billion valuation. The company claims to serve 200 million customers in 2015.

Recent Funding: $1.25 billion from Alibaba

Online food ordering is a new buzzword in startup world and China is no exception, Ele.me is a online food ordering platform that aims to spread across 260 cities in China in upcoming months.

The company came into limelight for the recent funding it acquired from technology giant Alibaba Group.

Recent Funding: $46 million from Gosuncn

After launching as a kickstarter campaign in 2014 and successfully raising $260,834 from 681 backers, ANTVR attracted wide attention worldwide for it's all-in-one universal VR kit. Even Oculus chief Plamer Luckey found ANTVR's controller as "cool".

The company set to launch it's Google Cardboard type VR headset and a VR camera this year.
